My mother suffered from such severe osteoporosis that her leg broke out from under her while she was standing talking on the phone. Another time, she broke her spine while making her bed. The fractures were constant and excruciating, beginning when she was 60 years old. She died four months ago, at age 84, six months after a fall in which she sustained 16 fractures of her pelvis, spine and ribs.
I am 51 and last week I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. I am determined to take charge of my health and give myself a Great Bone Makeover. I have always been fascinated by makeovers. For this one, any outward change in my physical appearance is a by-product. I want to break records in the unseen arena of building bone mass. The Before and After photos you will see of me in this blog will be X-rays and MRI’s–although, truth be told, I hope to throw in a few “afters” showing the muscles I plan to acquire!
For several years I have been studying a modality of energy healing called Therapeutic Touch. I am planning to incorporate Therapeutic Touch into my healing plan.
In this blog, I will record my status and progress. I hope that when I change my destiny by building powerful bones I will inspire others who find themselves in this situation. To keep my anonymity, (as employers prefer the illusion of great physical strength in their workers), I have created the email address wonderboneswoman@gmail.com.
Thank you for reading.
